    Default Question on Azureus

Since it's question about software. I'll place it in Computer Tech.

Ok. I was told by polobunny once that you can download
only selected files from torrent using this client.
AFAIK the only one program that allowed that was BitComet,
but lately it started messing up my downlaods.

So idecided to get back to Azureus as it's the best client in my opinion.

My question is if I can really download only selected files using Azureus.
If yes then what version do I need for that. I'm using older version 2.2.0.2
but I'm aware that the newest one is 2.3.x.x.
I've searched through the options in my version I couldn't find what
    I'm looking for...
If I need newer version, do I have to install JRE 1.5 for it or could I
run it under my old 1.4.x.x version of JRE??
Oh. and where is this option to downlaod selected files located??

    Thanks.

    Only download some torrents??

I think azureus uses the regular protocols for BT, i.e it can open every and any torrent file.

I myself have been using Az for... lets see, mp close to a year. I have NEVER had a torrent which didnt work, some didnt d/l due to bad tracker or no seeds, but none that refuse to work.

No. That's not what I mean.
Hmm. Here's some example to show what I want to know.

    example
Let's see I have a torrent on Anime series and it contains info
about 25 episodes, but I already have 24 of them and want only
    to download the last one...
In BitComet I have an option to select which file I want to downlaod
but on Azureus I cannot find that even when told that soemthing like this
exist. So I want to know if it's possible. (for more info read the 1st post in
    this thread)

Just double click on the torrent, select the Files tab, right click on a file, and set priority to "Do not download". Unfortunately, this still takes space on your HDD.

So virtually there is no other way than to use BitComet
if I want to spare soem space on my HD...well ok seems
I have to stick to the BitComet for a while when downlaoding
    3+GB Anime torrents.

Hmm. I was thinking that there is an option in BitComet that
disables reservation of HD space for downlaoded files, maybe
soemthing similar is in Azureus that will help me save some space...
    gotta search for it.

    Thanks for the info.

Yes, you can change the space allocation method somewhere, so it only allocates space as you download the file(s). (kinda)
I think it's the "Enable incremental file creation" option.
Technically I know Azureus could allocate space only when you download, however they didn't include this yet. This method above is almost similar but it might take up a bit more space.

Yes. That's what I was thinking about.
If it won't need that much space I don't mind cause
if the torrent has about 4+GB it's not easy to downlaod it
    fully using my connection...
    Thans for the info.

if you set files to 'do not download' in azureus they don't download. But with the default options the files will still have space allocated for them. So for what your talking about you should disable preallocation and everything will be fine.

    As polobunny said.

Now we know how viral bunny signatures really spread.
