Turbonegro kicks ass, you should stay and see them.
Don't, that's your chance to find the closest spot to the stage before everyone else hauls in. I always get to the shows a bit early and bear with the crummy metalcore bands that always open up just so I can get close to the stage. I never thought I'd ever be able to get so close to Vader, Behemoth, Kreator, Suffocation, and other bands I've seen so far.Originally Posted by Frozen Sky
Anyone heard of Subterranean Masquerade?? They are an avantgarde prog band. Really interesting at times
Also anyone heard of Machine Men, heard they were similar to Iron Maiden?
Damn, I had no idea Exodus were up to something new. What I've read so far claims that it's really really good stuff, and thus I'm downloading this with much excitement. The cover also kicks ass.

You guys need to check out Sigh (the dudes in my avatar). Seriously.
They play thrashy BM, but with lots of crazy and experimental elements thrown in.
I only have one of their albums so far (Scenario IV: Dread Dreams), but it kicks ass.

I've heard of Sigh, they're Japanese right? I'll check their music out...
Nope, should be out next month.
By the way, Nanowar -a parody metal band- have a new album out. Though it's parodious(sp?) music, they're pretty damned good, and it's funny as hell. They modify the lyrics from bands like Manowar, Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc. to humorous stuff about sex or about being "true", but they have some original tunes too. Their new album is entitled "Other Bands Play, Nanowar's Gay!".
Soeru, your new avatar looked like a goose flying for a few seconds... then I thought, why would he do that? Then noticed it was a guy.
I'll check out NANOWAR now.
Soeru's avatar is great, it's a shame people don't use their hands anymore when they head bang. I guess they thought it looked gay or something.
3 days till Maiden!!

Lol at the goose thing. I headbang but not with the horns, it's one or the other really.Originally Posted by TobyNY
FrozenSky, the majority of those bands are brutal DM bands, not grind bands(cept for the first few), but whatever. Rep for Repulsion though, they kick ass.
More grind and tech grind/death bands:
Cryptopsy(of fuckin' course)
Terrorizer(mandatory)
Napalm Death(get their best hits)
Lykathea Aflame(technical melodic grind)
Extreme Noise Terror
Haemmorage
old Exhumed
Mortician
Cattle Decapitation
I've recently gotten into Nile a lot and holy fuck, I can't believe I haven't been extremely interested in them since the start. So brutal and groovy... You should check these musical geniuses out, Toby. One of the most brutal bands I know of is Devourment. It's like... slam breakdowns all over the songs, so brutal it'll make you want to smash your skull against a concrete floor while you headbang. Wormed is like this too, a little more techinical and without the gore/death lyrics. And of course you can't forget the originators of brutal DM: Suffocation. Krisiun is considered brutal DM too, they're really cool, and I saw them live with Hate Eternal(which is modern Morbid Angel-style stuff). Also check out Necrophagist.
If you're looking for DM in general, Decapitated's first 3 albums are some of the best that DM has to offer. I frequently associate DM with them, not only because it was one of the first DM bands I got into, but because they're so pure and undiluted.
By the way, on Sep. 6th I'm seeing Napalm Death with Obituary! Can't fuckin wait. And the week after that: Therion(pure heavy metal) with Beyond the Embrace(melodic DM). \m/
