    Default Problems with... internet

Yes, I'm having a problem with my internet. I've been having it for 2 fucking years, but it haven't bothered me much until today (14 disconnects when playing Guild Wars = instant fun). So, the problem is; whenever someone answers the phone, BAM! Disconnected for a minute. Whenever someone hangs up, BAM! Disconnected once again. Anyone know how to solve this shitty little problem? I'm desperate.

Assuming you have DSL. Do you have phone filters hooked up to each and every phone? My telephone provider gave us filters when we had DSL.

its a small device that plugs into your phone line, which can be connected to your phone and stuff. It prevents you from getting disconnected

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a technology that puts high speed digital data on standard two-conductor voice-grade telephone wiring. DSL service is often added to an existing telephone line. When properly installed, the DSL service and phone can be used simultaneously without interference. When improperly installed, telephones and other equipment connected to the telephone line can cause problems with the DSL service. This application note describes why this happens, and how to fix the problem.

Call up your ISP and bitch at them in the most annoying form possible.

If you were using a modem/ISDN connection, I would kind of know what's going on, but since I know you're on some form of broadband I'm pretty stumped. You probably have aDSL, which is the popular broadband in Europe... Just call/get your parents to call the ISP.

I tried so a couple of days ago, but they said that "they didn't understand my problem". At last, when they DID understand, he said: "Make sure someone doesn't call when you are using the internet". Great solution, yeah.

    Indeed I do.

I'll see if I can get these Phone Filters somewhere, thanks for the help.

Ah! I have the exact same problem, and I was playing a game today, and disconnected 5 times. I was pretty ticked, and I have phone filters too.

If your ISP cares about its customers, they'll get it fixed quick. If not, well at least you made them have a bad day.

Well, I found a phone lying around without a filter, and unplugged it. Hopefully that's the solution!!! If not, I'll bitch. Thanks.
