It depends on the connector the hard drive uses. If it happens to be normal IDE connector, you can just attach it to your desktop computer and copy the files. If it is not IDE connector, then it becomes more difficult, like installing the drive to other laptop and transferring the files using Ethernet or burning them to discs.
Have you seen me before?
i forgot to mentioned this before, ive already cheked to see if it would fit in my desktop, but the IDE cable is to big.
So it uses Mini-IDE connection. There are IDE cables that have mini-connector at one end and normal at the motherboard side.

where could I buy one of those?
you need a laptop hdd convertyer. it connects your laptop's hdd to your computer's ide channel.
I've seen it in a billion places. I've seen them on ebay for ~$5, I've seen new ones for ~$10.

Try asking from local computer store. You can also try searching on-line computer stores of your country.

thanks for your help guys.
no problem, that's why we're here.
you can also try using a usb external hard drive enclosure. Get one for 2.5in drives, and you should be all set. you can just then put the hard drive inside, and use USB to connect it to your computer. In fact, you just got yourself a new portable hard drive. Enclosures for 2.5in drives, usually run between 10 and 20 US dollars if you look hard enough
