    Well, I just checked GameFAQs and according to them this game was cancelled. Interesting. But I'd bet this game might have been smuggled out and on to the net at one point, like Thrill Kill was. Hmmmmm. It's odd that there was 4 different covers though.

    i know of the classic black and white covers as there the ones i saw in the catalogues , the other one (bottom left) might have been the manual's cover perhaps? .... or considering it never really made it into production they could all be early runs lol

    Or maybe covers got released because the game was to be announced, then the company stopped the project, but the covers were already made so someone put them on the net.
    Just a theory.

    Yeah, GameFAQs also had a TBA thing in there for the Euro release. Midas Interactive Entertainment was the company that was supposed to release it there.

    Midas doesnt even show the game in their released list. I guess it wasn't released anywhere.

    I think I've solved the question of what SLPS-03480 should be called.

    The title screen shows this game was developed by Silver Star Japan (picture below)

    The page below lists 3 games made for the PS2 by that company:
    Sekai Ginboshi Shogi 4
    Sekai Saikyou Ginboshi Igo 5
    Sekai Saikyou Ginboshi Igo 6
    http://games.ign.com/objects/689/689006.html#Developer

    This page shows the title screen of a game that strongly resembles the title screen of SLPS-03480 (compare the pictures below):
    http://www.silverstar.co.jp/02produc...o3/ps_igo3.htm

    Note how that link has ps_igo3 in it.

    According to this page, Sekai Saikyou Ginboshi Igo 5 is also known as both Sekai Saikyou Ginsei Igo 5 and Sekai Saikyou Silverstar Igo 5
    http://ps2.ign.com/objects/689/689008.html

    Since the master list already has 2 games listed called:
    SLPS-03325 : Sekai Saikyou Ginsei Igo [J]
    SLPS-03563 : Sekai Saikyou Ginsei Igo 3 [J]

    Then I guess we should go with Ginsei over Ginboshi.

    Which means the official Master List entry for this game would be:
    SLPS-03480 : Sekai Saikyou Ginsei Igo 2 [J]

    ok as for the lettering and what it meens in a serial this is what we know so far

    These serials are incredibly useful for labelling SCE products
    for filesharing and identifying file properties. Not sure what a
    serial code looks like for SCE products? They look like this:-

    SCES_000.01 (Displayed as SCES-00001 on covers, books)

    The purpose of this text is to teach you what each segment
    of this code means and the benefits of using them in your
    filenames as a suffix.

    ++ 1st letter -- Storage Media.
    S = Sony commercial CD-R, Sony DVD-R 5, Sony DVD-R 9.
    U = Universal Media Disc (Utilized by Sony PlayStation Portable aka. PSP).
    P = Promotional media.

    ++ 2nd letter -- License Information.
    C = Licensed and Distributed by SCEA / SCEE / SCEI.
    I = Licensed by SCEI and distributed by overseas 3rd party.
    L = Licensed by SCEA / SCEE / SCEI and distributed by a 3rd party locally.
    B = ???? (Help us with this we would most appreciate it!)

    ++ 3rd letter -- Software Region.
    E = Europe & United Kingdom.
    J/ P = Japan/ Asia (J substitutes P for PSP software titles).
    U = North America/ Canada.

    ++ 4th letter -- Software Type.
    D = Software demo(s).
    M = Developed in Malaysia.
    S = Full version software.
    X = only really on demo's (Help us with this we would most appreciate it!)

    as for there being a more complete list i dont belive there is one i know there isnt a complete list online whichc is why were trying to make one so any submission of titles that arent on the list would be very helpfull thanks
