if i was to purchase a mod chip, would it be possible for me to install it myself using the manual without too much difficulty, cuz i just wanna pay like $25 for a 12-wire mod chip and am wondering if that would be difficult.

I'm still looking for someone to solder my xbox, but theres no way to find one locally
edit: "solder my xbox"? what the hell was I smoking? I meant to say that I couldn't find any joint that would mod my xbox for me.

There are solderless mod-chip solutions available for both the PS2 and XBox, so I'd suggest that unless you have some hefty soldering experience, you look into those. Hell, even if you do, I'd still suggest it. It's alot easier.
Then you could always softmod, as I did. Never had to open the case, and done in less than 5 minutes.
forgive my ignorance but what's soft modding?
Sprung, soft-modding is easy from what I've heard, but aren't the components going to run you about the same as a mod-chip anyway? If that's the case, IMO you'd be better off buying a solderless mod-chip and installing that.
I bought a AR Max off Ebay for $20, and got Agent Under Fire for like $5 or so...Originally Posted by Cyberxion
Yeah it's about the same price, but i didn't have to crack open the console, and I was done in literally 5 minutes or less.

how can you soft mod a x box? I know about how to do it with a ps2 (is there a new soft mod for the slim ps2 yet?) but what about the x box?
ps: i got a ps2 and I am going to go with a soft mod for it myself.

Soft-Modding is basically tricking your XBox into thinking it has a mod-chip installed when it doesn't, by using software exploits and whatnot. The process doesn't require you to open your system to do it. As far as I know, you can't do that with the PS2.
for me a soft mod (for a ps2) is useing a boot disk with the little thing that you can use to open and close the trey.
I freind of mine got one of them when he got a new set of boot disks

Yeah, I remember those. They were great back when there weren't any solderless mod-chips available.
Get the Xenium ICE SP if you don't know how to solder. Really easy to do and no solder needed.
Prolly coolest chip out there too.
That's the one I have. Easy as shit to put in, and works like a charm.
