    Default BitTorrent seeding question

I'm trying to seed a file on the EP bittorrent tracker. but the client only seeds it for about 2 minutes. i put the settings so that it will seed until the ratio reaches 0.

There's your problem! You told it to seed nothing
*PSA* Wii Redump collector's can now unscrub ISO files. So scrubbed games can now be verified. You can find the program to do this here

But thats what the faq says to do. and if i put it at any other value it says that the the torrent has met the requirements to stop seeding. it seeds for a bout 2 minutes nothing uploads and then the client stops seeding it even though it says it will seed it for 16 more hours. I'm using the original bittorrent client btw.

Get a better client. I used to recommend TorrentStorm, but the programmer decided to discontinue it. I have the final version released if you are interested.

I used ABC, then Azureus, now i'm using Torment. Fast client, a few added functions, looks better.
Grab ABC if you want more functions, grab Azureus if you want a *load more.

Yes, thanks to you for showing me it. Takes 5-7 times less ram than Azureus. :O

I used to use TorrentStorm but after I reformated the computer I noticed his project had ceased so I switched to Azureus. It is a very nice program. I would recommend either one of them.

okay, i'm using torment and it seems to be working now.

since noone is downloading what i wanted to originaly seeded (Brigandine for PSX), I seeded Xenogears which i downloaded earlier because i wanted to see if that would show me that the seeding was working. however the upload rate is barely 1 Kbs.
is this normal, its only been about 10 minutes, or is it because there are a bunch of other seeders.

    i'm new to this. duh

Well if you're seeding the torrent made by KaosReigns there should be a bunch of downloaders. So you should have a couple of good upload requests, and be doing better than 1k/s. Do you have a port open for Torment to connect to?

    I opened 6881-6889.

Whatever I'm downloading has good upload rates, but the stuff I seeded doesn't.

i do still have the original client open aswell, when the download finishes in that (Valkyrie Profile for PSX), i'll seed it with torment. maybe having both clients open is stealing bandwith from each other. i don't know, maybe i'll try another client tomorrow.

So now I'm using Azureus, still have the problem. its the only thing running after i rebooted my machine.

Azureus has a utility to check if the port is forwarding properly. so i checked port 6881 and it said i had a NAT error. but i checked the faqs and i had already opened the port. anyway i went and opend another totally random port, in the proper range. this port checked out OK with the utility. so i seeded Xenogears again and still crappy upload speeds.

So I went to download a new torrent and everything works fine, I get a green smily face for the torrent health, so that should mean I don't have a NAT problem.

yet I can't seem to seed.

I think that Bit Lord is really underated www.bitlord.com

I have been using it since I started doing torrents and that was at version 0.56 now I am running 1.1, it makes torrents bloody easy to make and download, only problem I see with it, is that it uses about 30-35 megs of Memory Usage while d/ling
