Read up on how to install evox manually by downloading the disk (Guide on Xbox-scene) or download an autoinstaller disk such as slayers if you are that much of a nooby (which it would seem). If you screw up too much, then youll need to buy a chip.

Softmods arent foolproof people, read up on the pros and cons of it before you do it. Dont abuse an autoinstaller, especially since when crap like this happens, you are too lazy to look up the fix, and you dont know how to do it yourself.

    I'm downloading the Auto-Installer Deluxe 2.11.

Okay, I've got the EvoX on a disc and I'm going to install it.
My XBOX still has the C folder with everything in it, but the MS dashboard won't load.
How do I remove the softmod completely and load my XBOX to it's default dashboard?

    Edit:
    Okay, WTF.
The only thing the EvoX disc did was make things worse; it replaced my C folder with the mod, and now I've got no MS dashboard.
The disc isn't booting and I get the error screen again.

You can boot back ups? if thats the case insert the evox disk and choose an option that says return xbox to retail or something like that, that way your xbox will be back to its original state before the softmod and all that, after that yopu can reinstall everything again

I tried the EvoX disc, but it deleted my C folder and I can't boot burned discs anymore.
    I have no dashboard now.

Then it seems like you screwed your xbox since you dont have anyway to get acces to it anymore,Id suggest that you open it and start your hd from scratch using xboxhdm or something like that

    >< That, my friends, is why you dont use Softmods when you dont know what you are doing. Either format your HDD from scratch as Van says, or mod it with a chip.

Interestingly enough, my softmod went fine, and I was done in 5 minutes. It seems the problems occur when people start messing with the dashboards (other than skinning).

    not necisarily,

I think it has alot to do with your model xbox.

I have a pal crystal with a samsung drive
and have never had any troubles.

my mate who has a pal crytal with a thomspon drive is very buggy.

but reguardless i prolly done about 30 pal xboxes now
and only had like 3 or 4 problem xboxes

but when it comes down to it,
    360 is round the corner
youll be able to pick up a preowned xbox for cheapo
that might be a thought as well

If I remember correctly, my Xbox is a 1.0, with a Thompson drive. The only strange thing I can say is that lately I have been having to extract all the data from the downloaded ISOs, and then reassemble it into another ISO for it to work. That might be caused by the original rippers though...

Indeed,Ive never had any problems with softmods,my advice would be to make a backup, dont mess with files if you dont know what youre doing. Its pretty starnge that all his savegames had deleted I assume that he was trying to do something very special with his xbox to have all his saves deleted,if he had the saves even if he had the 21 error he could have booted his original game and into the softmod installer through the savegame and from there ftp to the xbox or restore the backup.

something that I have just been chatting to val about is

my samsung xbox plays dvd rw's
but none of the other drives(thompson or philips) will read them
    in my experience
they will only read non rw dvds

has anyone else had these issues?
or a thompson or phillips that plays rw's?

My Thompson is limited to DVD+R and CD-RW. That's all it will read. I find it incredibly hard to burn a good image on CD-RW, as most fail, and the ones that do work load very slowly... I now burn all the ISOs onto DVD+R, even if they are only 200 or 300 MB...it's just easier.

    hmmm,
I wonder if its like a driver issue
or if its just the manky thompson/philips drives

I would advise anybody thinking of getting an xbox to softmod to get a samsung drive model

as alot of the time I will burn a game and its soo piss poor(cough, stubz the zombie, cough)that it would be a waste of a dvd+r
so its great to overwrite the orrible pieces of shit
