xbox soft mod tutorial & discussions
This tutorial is for sof moding your xbox,use it at your own risk i dont take responsibility about what happens to your xbox since i have only tested it in 1.1 xbox mine of course and it works perfectly.Be sure you have a 5960 dashboard before you do this,if you dont just get a live enabled game like halo 2 to update your dashboard when you try to connect to the xbox live.
Things that youll need
1-an action replay memory card,if you dont have one you can follow my tutorial on how to make an usb xbox controller an a homebrew AR http://forums.emuparadise.org/showth...post590394here
once youve done the usb thing you can transfer the files needed from your pc to your mem card.
2-an exploit,i used Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v2.0.Xbox-Hq this is a good exploit to do the soft mod this is the file youre going to transfer to you card.
3-an original game not backup nor a platinum version or re-release of the following ones,splinter cell,007 agent under fire,mechassault.
Steps
1-first unrar the Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v2.0.Xbox-Hq and grab the files needed depends on wich game you chose,in my case i did it with the splinter cell,then i grabbed the SID.Splinter.Cell.v2.0.NTSC.Xbox-Hq and SID.Splinter.Cell.v2.0.Xbox-Hq then just transfer them to the AR,what? you cant? just open the AR software and where it says memory card grab the files with the mouse and put them in the mem card section,not in the pc database.
2-once youve done this just plug you controller with the memory card to your xbox and the copy the files to your hard disk,you cant do this neither? dont worry when you go to the memory of your xbox youll see that theres the memory card then enter it and when youre at the files you want to copy to the hard disk just press the d-pad to the right and youll see that youve selected the data,now just press a and therell appear some options to delete the file or copy it,copy the 2 files to your hard disk.
3-once youve done that turn off your xbox and turn it on with the original game you chose,in my case i tried it with the splinter cell so when the game starts just choose the start game then load profile,after this just chose the llinux profile and youll see that there will appear the softmod installer manager.
4-first backup your c drive,you do this by selecting the create MS Backup.
5-after this install the softmod by chosing install softmod.
6-After this install the dashboard you want ,in my case i selected evox,you can choose unleash x if you want.
7-after youve finished remove the cd and restart your xbox,there should appear the evox dashboard or the unleash one depending in wich one you chose.
8-if you want to be able to have your original ms dashboard by selecting it through the evox dashboard just turn on your xbox with the tray open and select patch MS 5960,after its done itll restart your xbox .
9-you need to backup your modded c drive in case that anything bad happens so select the mod backup option to do it.
after this youre done softmoding your xbox,congrats now if you want to put some aplications to your xbox youll need to use an ftp client to transfer them.
