    Default Grand Theft Auto 3....

My PC version of GTA 3 worked fine until today!
When i try to load it, it says it needs 12 MB of available video memory!
I tried re-installing it and everything but nothing changes!!
Does anyone know why this happens?

Hmm maybe you've disabled Hardware acceleration or D3D Acceleration in your DXDiag.
And be sure taht you have full software acceleration enabled in your
system graphics properties options (don't have english Windows so don't know if
the names of options are spelled properly).

marcos is right, also, you might want to consider updating the game or googling for a fix (Which sometimes works )

Update your drivers, and check for any unwanted processes running in the background.

um...i could be completely off track, but if you have some integrated chipset, maybe you lowered the UMA to like 8 megs or something since the last time you played GTA?

Or you've changed your resolution or bit depth.

This was the cause for me also. I needed to decrease my color depth to 16-bit every time I run the game, then back to 32-bit after it. It has a bug that counts the available video memory before changing to its own screen mode, giving wrong results.

he said it ran fine before, so its not his video card's specs that are in question, its config of some sort

ahhhhh...ic, guess this semi-pointless post will be my 500th!

looks like johntuan just replied to the ten or so threads on top in computer tech with useless replies... now he has 26, i bet the 26th was in the sub-forum he just unlocked!
