It would be better to leave things as they are unless you are experienced in the way the firewalls and network applications work. You know the purpose of a firewall: to keep hackers and other unwanted network action away. That's why removing firewall or opening wrong ports will not be a good idea.

    Download: 576kbps
    Upload: 256kbps

Nothing brilliant. It's impossible to find a good ISP in the UK that will give you anything greater than a 512kbps connection for a fair price. Hell, I'm paying around 25 ($45 or so) per month for this one! There don't seem to be any bandwith limits however, which is pretty good.

i use road runner high speed cable modem. i don't know the exact numbers N stuff but from what i've seen the highest download speed i've had so far has been almost 600KB's. its pretty quick for my tastes except for when i download using torrents then my pc slows down really bad lol

    There's better than a T3?

I'm on DSL. At least one megabit down, at least 700 kilobits up. Can't clock it right beacuse it's faster than my processor/RAM setup.

If you wish to test your (download) speed, this thing is pretty nice.

What I got from one of the tests there:
    Your line speed
    1971 Kbps
    241.5 K bytes/sec
