Default An Emuparadise Save State thread

I was thinking like Zophar maybe we can make a emuparadise save state thread. This thread would be closed, with only save states from a particular game, so it wouldn't be clogged up with requests, maybe an additional thread for requests, of course the limit for save states vary in size, I'm not too sure but I think that snes states are 256 kb, but I think compress to about 40 Kb zipped. and battery saves (in game saves) are 8 kb. The Criteria would be like this

    1. Save States can only be uploaded by Emuparadise forum members for the forums, not taking save states from other places and calling it your own

    2. If there is a name selection option in the game, use the default name or leave the name blank if you "Have" to choose a name.

    3. These save states can be made for places that are requested by members. Or perhaps People can make save states at relevant points in the game.

I've added a poll. Also opinion is welcome

Sounds like a good idea. But, if the thread is closed, how are people supposed to put save states there? Ask mods to do it?

Perhaps in a different thread for requests save states can be put in by mods or maybe just have the thread and Mods could edit out the requests should they find their way in there.

Also maybe a count at the begining of the thread which will be updated to show how many save states we have, together we will rule!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Cyberxion. well, I just need to look at sizes now, I reckon that, you could upload any sort of save state up to the snes, anything after I think would be too large, still this is in early stages and allowances could be made, well seeing as the majority so far back it, I'll get started on a basis for the thread.

I would to disagree. There are many formats of the same game out there as in Playstation.
Besides, savestates are space-consuming and are generally not recommanded for use as they can corrupt data in ePSXe in games.

Agreed that was the original thought, perhaps you could squeeze 3 save states in a post, that was the reason I thought maybe a closed thread so that all the posts after could be linked by an "index", this index would would have been at the begining would link to each "single" post to save lots of trapzing. So the threads would be like this

"Emuparadise Save State Thread" (closed) would be a single post thread (maybe more if its too big with links to single posts in the "Emuparadise save states", This would also be closed but This would contain all the save states and these would all be linked to in the "Emuparadise Save State Thread". So say you wanted an "Illusion of Time" save state, you could look in the "Emuparadise Save State Thread" and in the snes section, find Illusion of time, next to it would be a link to a single post in the "Emuparadise save states" with all the Illusion of time save states. Then there would be a third thread for requests.

That was my original Idea. Does anyone have a better way to handle this if it comes to pass

I don't think we'll be doing psx save states.

What about instead of just one thread a sub forum in like GG?
You could have the stickied master thread where the SS go
Then have the rest of the sub forum as requests?

Or even have the sub forum. but then cut it up into sections
IE: have a sub forum for the SNES with a sticky of the thread where the SS will and just have it so people can make a thread request a SS for a set spot once the SS is uploaded to the stickied thread the post will be linked to the requested post and the thread closed.
that seems like a good idea but i think it will take some modding.

That is a smart idea thou but i was thinking if they wanted a SS for PSX but not upload it here just have like an IRC channel for it.
Or how about a BT file? that why its not goin to be on the forums and if the torrent dies then thats the end of that.

Maybe as an alternative to PSX save states, we could just have people post thier PSX saves. Those shouldn't be too big, and people could share thier accomplishments with others, or even just post saves to help others get past a certain problem-area of a game. This would also be a great idea for games that include level-editors and whatnot. For instance, people could upload the levels they've designed for the THPS games. That could lead to level-design tournaments as well, which could be fun.

Wow, The Watcher and Cyberxion have some good ideas going there too, certainly worth looking into.

    I like that Idea.
You could do the gaming challange thread that Gospel made but for games like that. have like a GT2 race thread where you got to use a set car with set setting and try and get the fastest time.then you could take a screen shot and then post it. and if the winner at the end of the tournament gets a special sig sayin they are the king of that game and cant like an Adim give them another user title? and when they get knocked off the person how beats them gets all this stuff.

One thing I would like to note is to make sure the region is correct so that there isn;t any confusion. i.e. U save state being used with E and so on.

OK...anyways, PSX memcards are highy recommaned though. Then, I should have voted yes....
For savestates on other emulators, I have no qualms about them.

I still belive i had the region convertor that Zorlon gave me.
So that shouldnt be a problem.
But yes having a region code would help alot i know most of the GameFAQ SS are in NTSC.
