    General FAQ
    _______________________

Now beforehand there are a few things that should be obvious:

    1. A lot of Emulators reqiure Direct X and updated drivers to operate and will be the reason a lot of the time why it freezes/Doesn't start.

    2. You are able to play N64 roms in Pj64 In Zip format, but not rar, for anyone that's confused about that. From what I can see no other emulator supports roms in zip format.

    3. The region's go as follow's
    (E) Europe
    (U) Usa
    (J) Japan
    (JU) Japan/Usa
(?) Will come up with more.

    Frequently asked Questions.
Q: How do I "add" the expansion pak to the Emulator?
A: For Project64 you go onto options then unclick hide advanced options, then when you go back into options there will be a lot more options, go to the advanced tab and you can select the default rom memory to either 4mb or 8mb
For 1964 you have to do it individually, by selecting a rom on the menu screen(don't go into the game) go onto edit and Rom Properties. here besides a lot of other options, there is an option to fiddle around with the expansion pak.

Q: I can't get glide to work on the emulator:
A: Glide64 is a plug-in for and to make it work put the plug-in in the plug-ins folder, now if it still doesn't work(Can't locate it) Then you aren't using a voodoo card. For this problem you need to get a glide wrapper(newest 3x) and put the in the same folder as the emulator and NOT in the plug-ins folder.

Q: This Plug-in is giving me trouble on this computer but not another one, help!
A: The reason this probably is that one computer has a low end graphics card and another has a high and graphics card. Some plug-ins now have support for pixel shading and other effects, but some people might have graphics cards that don't support this. Direct64 is one that requires a good graphics card, as does Rice's 5.6.0 to get best results. will post minimum graphics card that supports pixel shading.

    How well Emulated List
    ____________________

Here is a list of games that are playable, unplayable and near unplayable that way any new configurations may help put them into the playable zone. I'll put a number next to them to show which post they were assessed to save long browsing for one game. This is subject to change a lot, I am also now putting up a fully emulated section for any games that can be fully emulated. I am now putting them in alphabetical order now

I'll be using a set that doesn't have duplicates in it but is all the roms for the N64, afterwards, there might be the possibility of working on them.

O = Original. these are the roms I've started off with
D = Duplicate. roms that are the same except for country or maybe version i.e V1.1 etc.

Also don't forget to tell people that if they are not sure what N64 ROMs they have, to go and download the GOOD TOOLS Utilities from the internet, like from this link:

    http://www.zophar.net/utilities/goodutil.html

You'll need GoodN64 v2.02a and the GoodGUI v0.9 to run GoodN64 with. This handy little utility will scan all your ROM directories and spit out a list of what you got

Thank you for your input, greatly appriciated. I wonder if we could get this thread stickied seeing as quite a few problems involve n64 emulation and posts specifically noting all problems with n64 roms and how to rectify them would be a good reference. if none of the mods want to sticky this its ok.

    Game:
64 de Hakken!! Tamagotchi Minna de Tamagotchi World (J) [!].v64

    Tested in:
    1964 0.9.9

    Settings:
    graphics plug-in: Glide64 V0.7 ME SP8
    sound plug-in: schibo's Audio Plug-in 1.2 based on UltraHLE

    Notes:
The Glide64 plug-in is the only one so far that i seen that doesn't produce horrific slowdown in 1964, the sound has the occasional scratch but is otherwise ok, the graphics however are rubbish, I've tried a few plug-ins in both 1964 and pj64 with little luck, so I'm putting this in the near unplayable section till i can find something better.

    One to come back to.

    Game:
    64 Oozumou (J) [!].v64

    Tested in:
    Project 64 v1.5

    Settings:
    graphics plug-in: Rice's Video 5.60
    sound plug-in: Jabo's Direct Sound

    Notes:
While some 2d shots suffer with these settings the frame rate is perfect, the sound is fairly top notch but the 2d graphics is were it suffers i.e. menu, although the options are seemingly still legable(if you can read japanese)

    Tested in:
    Project 64 1.5

    Settings:
    Graphics Plug-in: Rice's Video 5.6.0
    Sound Plug-in: Jabo's DirectSound

    Notes:
This game plays fairly well in both 2d and 3d sequences with no trouble only at the fight screen, there seems to be some flickering. The sound is great on this game as well, with little to no slow down.

Okay, one question for now, are you using the Clement's Unofficial update to SP1 v2.0g?

Good idea which I will sticky... but Destruction Derby 64 has performance issues on all but high end machines (so maybe put a note in for that). And PD is by no means perfect with Jabos plugin - in fact it misses a great deal of effects motion blur for one.

I would say that with Jabos the game is totally playable though and the imperfections shouldn't stop the game being completed.

I will, thank you mr miyagi, and no I'm keeping to original settings as far as I possibly can then testing with different settings.

Thank you for the corrections Mr Miyagi, I will change them. I should be a bit more thorough, its just destruction derby and perfect dark looked perfect.
