Sometimes during gameplay or even when im looking through the menus my monitor turns off then eventually my whole computer. A guy told me that it could be because of my power supply or because it is overheating. How do i find out whats wrong?

Give us your power supply voltage and we'll see if your missing some power.

If you don't mind taking the back off your computer, it should say on the actual power supply.

Goto the bios. Under a section called "PC Health" or similiar it should show the following things.

    PC Temp:
    12V voltage:
    5V voltage:
    3V voltage:

We need to know all of them. Preferably run UT2k4 wait for it to lock and and then reboot to find it out.

I dont know how to do what you just said to do lord riff raff so could you please explain.

There is a little red bar on the back of the pc next to the fan and below the power switch that says 115 could that be the voltage.

Thats the input voltage. DO NOT PLAY AROUND WITH THAT SWITCH!!!

We're talking about the voltage coming out of the transformer. You can find that in the BIOS, or even in Windows if you have the right programs...

    Restart the computer. Read what's on the screen at the start. The most common keys to enter the bios are;
Del, F1 or Tab. Del being the most common. Just press the right key when it says:
Press key X to enter/show, etc the bios.

I can't find a section like that. The only section that i can find that has voltage stuff is under harware monitor in the power section and this is what that looks like.

    Vcore 1.69V
    +3.3V 4.81V
    +5V 11.85V
    +12V

I dout thats the right stuff but its all i could find.

Thats sort of what we need...

Do you have a voltage reading for 3.3, cause 4.81 seems mighty big if thats it...not to mention the 11.85 the you have written down for 5V

I think each one needs to be switched down a line. If that's so then 1.69V is far too low for the 3.3V line. I think the power supply is dying, just go over to your local computer store and ask them to swap it for a new power supply, preferably with a higher wattage than your current one.
