Check their website, they have a few new titles coming up. Even a new version of the kickass Genesis shooter Vectorman. Get Shining Force III on the Saturn.
FF series are great games and you think they aren't so keep our opinions to ourselves.
mmmmmmm.....donuts!!!!!!
Holy crap. For once, I actually AGREE with Gospel on something. Yes, FF7 fanboys suck. Aeris this and Sephiroth that. Bah. You don't hear anyone going on and on about anyone from FFIV or FFVI. Or even VIII for that matter, which I consider to be tied for the best FF, right alongside IV.Originally Posted by Gospel
Ah, call me a fanboy if you will, but I've always liked FFVII simply because to me it stands as, not necessarily the best, but the most ambitious storyline in the series. I'd agree wholeheartedly with Agent Smith that it's been discussed to death and merits no more discussion, but I think following the awesome FFVI with more of the same, another traditional fantasy setting, would simply be too difficult, so Square decided to do something different. It's not a perfect game, but the setting was something quite new to the series, and Cloud's inner struggle was perhaps the most complex piece of character background in any of the games to that point, so much so that many people didn't even seem to understand it correctly, and many more debunked it as far fetched and ridiculous (forgetting that, again, Final Fantasy is fantasy). The game did a good job of playing off Sephiroth as the true villain, while leaving the real evil, Jenova, behind the scenes. As a result, the player can almost sympathise with him, something which wasn't really common in previous games (though Golbeze in FFIV had a similar quality). The idea of the lead female being more than just a damsel in distress, which was begun but not wholly developed in FFVI (I love Celes as a character, but her strength is largely an act, underneath it she's as scared as a child...), is elevated to new heights in FFVII as Aeris swiftly goes from helpless flower girl in the slums to a martyr for the planet. FFVII is not merely ambitious in it's jump to 3D, but it takes a lot of conventional FF ideas and sets them on their head, creating something that is partially true to the series and partially disjointed, unrelated. I believe that's why I like FFVII, simply because of all it does differently, all of the series conventions that it denies.Originally Posted by SeraphisCain
It was perhaps a bit of a sell out, moving out of the traditional swords and sorcery setting that so many people associate with the 'nerdy' Dungeons and Dragons into a 'cooler', more cyberpunk setting, though personally, I feel another crack at the more traditional fantasy setting so soon after FFVI would only have left many fans of the series disappointed. I'm not sure I'd say it's the best game ever as I probably did on first finishing it, on reflection it's far too easy, and while most of the lead cast are pretty well thought out, there's a few who are only minimally developed. But I do think, once I get over the initial feelings of discomfort, that I actually like it when an installment in a series surprises me that much. I had much the same feelings about FFVII as I did about last year's Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter, and the latter part of Metal Gear Solid 2. I used to play a lot of an import of Final Fantasy VI on a friend's SNES a long, long time back, and when I heard the sequel was coming out, I actually bought a Playstation for it. At first I regretted it, FFVII seemed nothing like it's predecessor, but after a while I really began to respect it for what it was.
Anyway, that's why I like FFVII Dub me a fanboy if you will, but I feel obliged to defend a game I like that much, and even more obliged to defend my reasons for liking it (I loathe the fact that I can no longer say I love the game without someone shaking their head disdainfully ).

other new rpg's are often compared to the final fantasy games because it was FF that made RPG's huge. what RPG's are today are mainly due to FF. not even the zelda series can compare to the FF series. and vivi shouldn't have beaten donkey kong? lol are you serious. vivi could've ran circles around that big ape while casting all sorts of magic on him.
Final Fantasy made RPG's huge? Er...
Oh, and you should all stop masturbating to Final Fantasy VII and play Final Fantasy IV.
its a matter of preferences,i agree with elin in all what he said, and i like almost every ff game,i played the nes and snes ones and despite for the graphics they where to good

This isn't directed to any of you in specific, but rather is an open post to all those with a....low level of tolerance to continued FFVII discussion.
Perhaps you may feel that all this FFVII discussion is treading on old ground, and it's run it's course. But you must consider that there's new gamers popping up every day, and new players come across this game all the time. They fall for it and want to discuss it with like-minded gamers. I see no harm in that. In fact, rather then simply shake your head and dismiss it as old hat, why not discuss your passion for the game with them? You might find new perspectives and ideas that you might not have come across had you not. And failing that, all those who find the discussion to be played out have the option to ignore it in favor of something else. It's not as if you absolutely must click on every thread relating to FFVII, and if you feel compelled to, then you have noone else but yourself to blame for what you're risking exposure to.
That aside, as with all popular things, FFVII willl be discussed for as long as there's a group of fans with a passion for it. The "Lord of the Rings" books are old as dirt by many people's standards, but that doesn't stop people from reading them, falling for what they find within the pages, and discussing the story at length years after they first read them with other fans. If that's acceptable, why should gaming, and this game in particular, be held to a different standard? As long as gamers are taking something away from the game that ignites a passion within them, what's the harm in them discussing it, even to a point of tedium?
