    Default Radiohead......the cure?

    hey, everyone.

i noticed the abundance of hardcore and metal fans alike here in the music zone, and i was wondering if there were others who had more diverse tastes.

such as radiohead and the cure, two of my favorite bands.

does anyone else here like these bands?

Yeah I'm a Radiohead fangirl. Got all there albums, B-side tracks, videos and such. Easily my favorite band. Tom York is such a great vocalist it's ridiculous. Not to say the rest of the group isnt amazing. You gotta respect a band that can go multi-platinum without the help of MTV or mainstream radio.

The Cure, I'm not as big on. I definitely like there music, but it's not something I listen to everyday.

For whatever reason, most of the regulars around here who like hardcore also like Radiohead and/or The Cure. I'm one of those dudes. I dunno about those who are strictly metalheads, I don't confer with them much.

Post if you're an exception, because I somewhat doubt you exist. Note that I said regulars, if you have a post count of less than 3000, I have no idea who the hell you are.

Both of those bands are good, largely.
Radiohead were at their best making electronic music, Kid A and Amnesiac are the best of their albums in my mind. Amnesiac winning over Kid A. What can I say, I love a bit of electronica.
As for the Cure, they were great too, but their happy songs are more or less garbage.

I have every Radiohead bar Pablo Honey, and the new one with Japanese all over it. Including one of the My Iron Lung EP's. The Cure were one of the first bands I got really into. I have Seventeen Seconds, Faith, Pornography, Disentegration, Bloodflowers, Greatest Hits 2CD and the new self titled.

I listen to all but rap. I used to say country aswell, but I watched this video of this country based guitarist playing an old tele and it was like, the best thing I have ever seen...

EDIT: Liking Radiohead and The Cure gives you diverse tastes?...

I used to say that too, until I heard Buck 65's album 'Square'. I'm not sure if it's considered Rap, or Hip-hop, or something else entirely. All I know for sure is that it's like listening to a fantastic meld of DJ Shadow and rap, and that it's damn good.

I love Radiohead, I don't like The Cure as much but it's not bad at all. As much of a metal fan I am, I still enjoy traditional Rock(nothing as old as the Beatles though), techno, trance, chillout, darkwave, and select hip-hop and punk bands. You could say I also like some folk and celtic music(in a way folk I guess). Some classical and baroque orchestral geniuses give me auditory orgasms.
Anyways, I also love all kinds of electronic music. Gorilaz, Aphex Twin(really ambient), Fisherspooner, meh(+loads more I can't think of atm) are all great bands. I have loads of compilations of dance/rave and more relaxed chillout music. It's hard to classify electronic music seperately, so I just like most of what I've listened to.

For the most part, i am a metalhead, but I do like bands, like the cure and U2 (far off from metal). I like some rap, and don't mind listening to most of it. I heard one song from Radiohead, and didn't like it at all, don't know what it is called. I like anything that took skill basically, but as far as listening to something on a regular basis, I listen to Metal.

I agree with Soeru about the Beatles, what is the big craze about them? I can't stand their music. if anyone likes them here, that's great, but I don't like them.

You would say that, you're the goddamn eggman.

I doubt I have diverse tastes. I just don't say "this is gobshite" if I haven't heard anything like it before. I'm not into any particular scene, I listen to music which sounds good to me.

Hey Slim, who was the country dude? There are plenty of country based musicians who have talent, it's the same old story of "what you've heard probably isn't the top of the field"... Junior Brown springs to mind. You'll have heard his Sugarfoot Rag before, it's pretty iconic country, but you may not have noticed the music...ness of it. I never really had a bias against country, Johnny Cash and The Flying Burrito Brothers converted me too easily. Now I just need some cunning way to tie you down and force you to listen to some Cannibal Ox or El-P...

    Indeed.
They have a few albums that I like, I just feel that they are way too old for me. I just don't get all hyped about them since they've been there since the dawn of time to me. I don't like/just don't know a whole deal about bands before 1968. Their songs don't have a whole deal of... energy in them. Ever listened to "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"? Now that's one fucked up song.

I just don't see why people listen to them now, some people act like they are the newest and biggest thing to hit stores. I understand why they were a big hit, they just seem way too out-dated. It is just way too far behind my time. I can see why people 25-30 and up like them though, that was during their time, but I know some people, who are 15, that just absolutely love the Beatles. I can't figure it out. We all live in a yellow-submarine, a yellow-submarine.....AHHHHHHHHH!!!
