It all depends what mood im in. Somedays i can just sit down and listen to Bob Dylan and the lyrics/vocals are so awsome but the instrumentals arent up to scratch, then sometimes i might be in the mood for more technical stuff so id prefer better instrumental pieces i.e Rush, Dream Theater....

I find that vocals stand out a lot more than instrumental work, mainly 'cause for most of the bands it's what's trying to get out there, where as the instrumental works are just in the background to support the beat and whatnot. I enjoy good lyrics too 'cause it gives the song some pressence, something to think about.

I mostly listen to songs because they have good intrumental work and melodic sound. If the song does not have this, it sucks. (That's how i can like both Trance and Final Fantasy )

I said instrumental work, but yeah, all three are important. Because if any one part of the song is REALLY bad, it will make the whole thing sound shitty.
