    Default Talk about your pets..

Recently I suffered a great loss when my new puppy Silver succumbed to distemper. He was the sweetest, most affectionate little creature god had ever created and I loved him dearly. He had hardly been with us for a fortnight, I think we was with us 18 days (in my home..) and then he died Sunday Night (18th July) at 11:45PM. We did everything we could, to save him, but alas, distemper is one of those diseases that is fatal for 80% pups. He was young so we couldn't get him vaccinated. In 18 days, he stole our hearts and brought us unimaginable joy. He was actually a present (from me..) to my parents on their Silver Anniversary (2nd July..) thus the name Silver. I loved him with all my heart and will always remember him. Silver was just over 5 weeks old when he died, may you rest in peace my baby.

This is a thread to talk about your pets, ones who are currently with you, or ones who are no more, because I believe, those who lived in our world, deserve to be remembered, for they gave us so much happiness and then departed. Pay a tribute to your best friends and most loyal partners, your pets.

Man, sorry bout your puppy, MasJ. I know how great a loss it would be if I lost one of my cats. They are always by me. I can imagine the gap in the family, I would have if one was gone.

Animals are awesome, IMO much better than human beings, atleast as friends . Hope all your cats live long and healthy Winged 2.0 though you probably needn't worry about that, 9 lives is a lot

To MasJ... i know you cant replace your loss but you might want to think of getting a new dog to help drown your sorrow.

I have only ever had one pet, Rocky my pet gold fish. I won Rocky at the Rockingham county fair when i was 9 or 10, i never expected him to surive for more then a week, I could not believe that he surived for more then a year, now that he is about 8 years+ old i have grown very much attached to him, and i hope that nothing happens to him anytime soon.

We actually have another dog. A Boxer named Suzy. She's 5 years old and going strong. One hell of a dog! See, Suzy is kinda reserved in her affection, she only wants to hug you when SHE wants to hug. Silver wasn't like that, he was very very affectionate, always looking for love and giving love too. Really sweet puppy.

We actually have Suzy to comfort us. Suzy never liked Silver when he inititally arrived, but she was SO upset when he fell sick and she's still moping his loss. We actually got Suzy when our previous Boxer, Cindy died of tick fever in 1999. So that was what you suggested just now. We'll probably get another dog later, but it's best to wait for a month or two until all of Silver's germs are out of the house. Don't want a new puppy falling to the same sickness. Suzy ofcourse is vaccinated etc. etc. And she's tough, never falls sick, touchwood.

Nice to learn about your goldfish. That's really long for a fish to live. I've never kept fish so I don't have much knowledge on their life spans, but that is still incredibly long for such a tiny thing. Take care of him, he must be old .

    Here's a picture of Suzy:

EDIT: Why don't you post pictures of your pets ?

I feel ur pain MasJ...my family has had an amazingly 8+ dogs...which almost all have died...whether it'd be old age...sickness...etc. I got attached to a puppy we picked off the street. He was a very small rottweiler...I guess the runt of the litter, but he was tough. We called him D-Bo...but turned out, his stomach was being eaten away by a virus...and worms were coming out of him...he only lasted the 2nd day but we played with him...right to the very end...when they had to put him to sleep. Some people, pets, and other things, you just gotta let go...so cheer up and make the best of it...of all the memories you've had with Silver

We got a dog a couple years back she was a shepard/boxer named lacey and she was like my little side kick but as some of you may know about the situation my mom is in we had to get rid of her because she was realy hyper and realy big and we were affraid she would make things worse for my mom. And shortly before that we had to put my other dog down (poodle/cocker spanial) because he was as old as me (16) and went blind and turned very mean afterwords. we put him down about 1 month before we got rid of lacey. Currently we have 3 mimick birds 3 and 10 year old goldfish
and masJ i definetly know how you feel losing Silver

Edit: the gold fish are no longer gold though they turned white after about 5 years, and they are huge now , i have noticed that the biger the tank the longer the life span

    Skinner8, not at all funny.

Gateman, Sorry about D-Bo. That really must have been tragic.

Winged, wow, nice cats. Smokey looks pretty serious, and Oreo looks like he's the cool one . About the file hosting, you can always attach images .

WildChild, Hamish is really adorable. Actually, that picture rocks. I think I have a couple of my dog also doing stuff like that.

Chaos, I really feel bad about your guinea pig, you have any pictures ?

uncle evil, I never knew goldfish lose their colour. That's pretty amazing. Sorry about both your dogs by the way, even my dogs are like my buddies, so it's really hard when you lose one.

Smokey is actully the lovable one. He purs really loud, sits on my lap forever but if you make him mad just a little bit, he takes it seriously. Oreo is kinda cool but he is always hiding and running. So thats why I can never get a decent photo of him.
Yeah, I know I can attatch but that has its limitations. Good ol' photobucket.

I've had one cat ,Tabby, who I lost after a few years. I came back from a week-long holiday, the next morning my brother found her on the side of the road. Even now, a good few years on, it's painful to remember losing her.

I'd post some pictures of my current cat, Shadow, but the downstairs computer (which holds all the photos) isn't on and I can't be stuffed going downstairs for that. Suffice to say that she's a lovely little catter.
