theres a difference between free trade and tax-free trade, depending on your definitions of it

So what, you just don't want tariffs on your imported goods?

No, I do not want slave money.

I give you clothing, you give me gardening tool, and the trade is final.

What is the purpose of trades being restricted with tariffs, just for a source of profit.

Taxes are used to support the government. I.E education, security force (police) and other things.

because humans are greedy by nature, but also, those tariffs help support the governmental institution that collects those tariffs. any form of government will not work for free, as it were. everything costs money, even governments

tariffs also make sure that competing countries don't squash the competition based in your country. There is a lot to tariffs, somethings good, somethings bad. However, it has nothing to do with what you want, or at least what you have conveyed in previous posts.

All this bickering ought to give Dhav211 some nice gil

yes ragnar14, i think its wrong 2. Let them be, they haven't forced u into anything right? How would you feel if i reported u to 10 anti-piracy agencies? Then you'll surely be down in a couple of months. But i dont do that, mainly cuz i like the site, but even if i did dislike it, i wouldn't do something like that cuz its none of my freakin' business

The problems I'd face if I were to do that:

Issues with the authors of the emulator I was trying to sell

No illegal roms allowed in the deal

I would also wager no shop would touch it - not due to legality but due to Sony/Nintendo whomever threatening to cut supply of products

Besides companies such as Sony/Nintendo/Microsoft have gotten enough muscle to simply tie you up in legal wrangling. See Sony Vs Bleem.

Emulators are not illegal, in the same vein the rom backup law is not quite as lax as you are pupporting it to be. It is pretty strict - like for like backups only.

The fact is, that this site was SELLING games they had no right to sell. We get them for FREE here at emuparadise but we only get games that no longer turn a profit for their parent companies.

The companies then made the emulators and roms. But as one of u said, the emulators and roms eventaully found their way to kazza and other file share sites.

It was then, companies like nintendo and sony realized how much this could help them. By giving away OLD GAMES, their company is advertiseing. People see the name of the company and think "Wow, I wonder if they've made any new games THIS good." And then individuals go out and buy NEWER games that aren't yet being emulated.

    Its the perfect advertisement.

They hurt the emulation community and sony. If they didn't offer PS2 games, I would have let it be. It's not like they are going to be burned at the stake They will just be asked to take down their site. They won't get in any trouble as long as they comply.

I won't say I think getting ROM's/ISO's for current consoles is bad, on the basis that I love playing GBA ROM's. I do think however the owners of that site were stupid for trying to sell bootleg games over the net. Market places and through friends are a lot more low key and sensible...

    PS - Capitalism kicks ass.
