Chocobo racing problem

I downloaded chocobo racing on the main site and when I play the iso on my modded psx, the screen is black and white and it is flashing.

What is the problem?

Note: I have an NTSC psone.
Could it be that the game is pal.
Is there a way to fix it.

I guess the game is PAL. If you download this: http://www.megagames.com/psx/files/iplightus.zip and use it to boot Chocobo Racing, it should work properly (set the video mode thingy to off). ^^
