In the Layers Pallette, just click on the different layers. If you can not see the Layers Pallette, click Window > Layers or something... Sorry, but I am too lazy to check right now.

A layer is like a clear piece of fiberglass that you do everything on, when you have one layer under another the things on that layer get covered up by the layer on top of it, and vice-versa.

    hope this helps out

BTW : Swat that sigh like a fly.

nah, didn't help yet I need to make a layer underneath the differce clouds and fill it with red, and then add a light effect. But I can't get that red layer to get on the screen, I only see the clouds...It's just me, I know I used it 5 days ago for the first time

If you manage to create the layer, drag it above all other layers, and fill it with red. If the whole image now looks red, then drag the layer down to its right place again. It is not visible now because no part of the "Clouds" layer is transparent / Semi-transparent.
