    Default my comp sucks

ok i just got c&c generals and final fantasy 11. my fist mistake was not doing research on the game requirements and the second was not knowing the specs of my comp. n e ways, i got home and tried to play it. i couldn't because it needed a certain graphics card to play. well i went out and got the card and tried to install it but it wouldnt fit so i went back to the place i brought it. i didnt know my specs at the time so they looked them up. the games required my comp to be agp compatible. i looked for the slot on my comp but come to find out that i had 2 pci slots. i was wondering if ...

    1) do i have to buy a whole new comp or is there a piece to but to replace that.

    2) if anyone has these games and do they work with anything else

Final Fantasy XI is a DX9 game, correct? There are PCI cards that support DX8, but not DX9. So you must have AGP and that means a new motherboard.

I would suggest waiting a few months and buying a new PC based on AMD's Athlon 64 FX or Intel's Prescott, which will be released within the next few months.

There is a PCI card that supports DX9 however it is not worth buying. That card is the FX5200, it is however incredibly slow and not worth buying for PC games use at least. The FX5200 PCI will be slower than the AGP version which was no great shakes itself.

Ah, yes. You are correct. There is a PCI-version of the FX5200. In fact, I have purchased and installed one for a friend! Silly me.

Nani? The man, Mr. bigdog, stated that "[he] looked for the slot on [his] comp but come to find out that [he] had 2 pci slots." He has not an AGP slot. He can simply purchase the PCI version of the 5200 FX or replace the motherboard. I would suggest the latter. If you want to play 3D games with your PC and you don't even have AGP (a five year old technology) you really need an upgrade. AGP itself is about to be replaced by PCI Express for graphics.
