It's really good that you have given us your system specs, but you haven't really given us your problem. It kinda makes it hard to diagnose what a solution is.
What system, and what games you having problem is?
N64, PSX, Snes etc

Did you try downloading Pete's Plugins? I haven't had anything like that happen while I played on ePSXe.

well as for the sound in FFVIII you could try getting the eternal spu plugin (sound plugin in case you don't know)
and try to mess around with the settings there and see if that will help.
as for getting FFIX to play on the emulator you'll need a patch for each cd to make it run.
I think you can burn the ppf patch with the cd or something, I'm not sure on that one.
But if you use the pete's cd-rom plugin you can auto apply the ppf patch from there, it just loads at the same time as the game, thus making it work.

FFIX PAL needs a patch, FFIX NTSC does not...
BOFIV is completely playable, don't know what your problem is, so please elaborate...
Also, for any game, try Eternal SPU for sound (SPU Async - Smooth, sound buffer size: 64). It works great for any game I've tried, including FFVIII (take note: I only play NTSC games)...
