First of all what operating system are you running and how much RAM do you have?

Also, what kind of operations are you usually running when you leave? Do you have a horde of background programs running, or perhaps are you downloading something? These things, coupled with your amount of RAM, might've overloaded it.

Or maybe try defragging your hard drives. You should do this once a few months.

Don't forget start/run msconfig and turing off all the programs that you don't need that start at the beginning... I only have a few things in my task bar when it starts~

this might sound strange, but win98 usually only likes the like I call it, the "double" amount of RAM, in this range:
    16
    32
    64
    128
    256
    512
    1024
    2048

So, yours between 64 and 128...I reccomend a upgrade to min. 128...(BTW 95 RAM is realy easy to get full, depends on what you're doing though...)

Make sure to go to Control Panel -> PowerOptions and turn off any hibernation/power saving options. You might have to do this in your bios under power option as well.
