I don't know you, you're not my friend.
I'm full of good ideas..
Lemme guess. You read an article in PC World that sung the virtues of Opera over IE, and just had to switch asap!
I don't like Opera. Feels too weird. I use something called Avant Browser, which uses the IE shell. As for that, it was disabled because people were using about 10 of them in their signatures at once. It was really annoying.
It was banned because I found out how to makeit move the "Report this post..." off screen. Anyway you don't need it it's got to be the second worst tag ever after blink.
G<b></b>low is also censored, because people were abusing it too.

That answered my question.....ok then.

I thought is was because of QUEEr...
EDIT: Obviously, I was wrong.
I've actually heard nothing but positive things about Opera. One being thier decent security features as opposed to those of IE. Another being that it's almost totally customizable, which for a person like me who likes to tinker with things, is a very inticing feature indeed. However, this is my roomies comp, and as such, I'm stuck with the choices he makes. I've suggested he look into Opera, due to it's favorable review in PC World, but he's wary about making any changes right now.Originally posted by megamanXplosion
I didn't just read anything about it, I've been using it for a while now. There are a couple of things that they are behind on, such as SVG support and stuff like that, but the browser itself is much better than IE. Even if Opera wasn't better than IE, I would still use it because Microsoft are only going to update IE with every OS, and it could be 2005-2006 before we see IE7, and I don't want to be forced to upgrade to Longhorn, and I don't feel like being out-of-date of years, while I can use a browser than does the same thing, except follows standards, is much faster, and works on several operating systems
Oh, and let's not forget the biggest part of my reasoning, you can actually make suggestions to the Opera developers!
However Opera doesn't have full CSS support.
Alas, Opera has even less. Really, if it looks good in Opera, it'll look good in all browsers. That's what someone told me, once...Originally posted by megamanXplosion
true, but no browser out there has full CSS support
I think something is wrong with your IE. I've got 20 windows open in Crazybroser (still IE) and I'm using 20mb.
Also have you even looked in the "Privacy" tab for IE? You can turn individual site cookies on and off.
And finally can either of them really compare with Mozilla?
Ok guys, that's enough. Let's drop this now, ok?
Not sure why on earth you consider Firebird to be slow? Using an SSE2 optimized build at the moment and it runs like greased lightning.Mozilla is a slow beast, I have it for testing purposes, but wouldn't touch it as an end-user. Firebird, it is a LITTLE bit better, but it just reminds me of Internet Explorer, except that it's slow like Mozilla lol.
I was going to split the thread , as IMHO this is a pretty interesting conversation. At the moment I have IE6, Firebird (SSE2 compiled build for P4) and Opera (build 720). But yeah, it probably has already ran it's course.Ok guys, that's enough. Let's drop this now, ok?
For the record though both Opera and Firebird rock
