Thread: What the hell happened?

    Default What the hell happened?

What the hell happened to the rom community? Every "rom" site I go to now-a-days is nothing but porno and false hope... you think that you've finally found your end-all solution to your romming needs... AND THEN IT ASKS YOU TO VOTE! Which never works... it's either that, or it will come up with the game's name, but once you click on it, it takes you to some crappy search engine that probably runs out of a cardboard box in the back of some redneck's trailer.

I was just wondering what all of you guys thought about today's fruitless search for roms.

THIS IS A POST THAT IS MEANT TO BLOW OFF STEAM!

If you want to rant and rave... be my guest, get what you want off your chest.

The people in charge of those sites that offer you the world, but just don't deliver should suffer horrible firey deaths. Plus they just make me sick (anything to put in that little smiley)

Oh no, now you have to look at popups to get games for free. What an inconvenience...

Its been like this since I've been in the emulation scene. Nothing happened, unless it happened over a year ago, I don't know.

And DON'T use this place as some sort of hacker recruitment base. Thats not what we do here.

    Amen to that, brother.

The guys running those sleaze sites are particularly screwed, and deserve my FOOT UP THEIR ASSES SO THEY TASTE POLISH FOR A MONTH...

But then again, there's not much we can do.

It has come to the point where search engines now do not give any romsites at all - just these fake rom sites like you mentioned, and more and more seem to be appearing Many sites I used to go to (such as Plasticman, Emusanet, and HouseOfRoms) are all gone, and being replaced by these fake sites. It pisses me off greatly...

*laughs at all the people who can't find ROM sites through search engines* XD

I've found ****ing PSX ISO sites when I was looking for Genesis ROMS, hell I can find at least five sites for SNES ROMS with REAL links if I felt like it. Stop being so god damn lazy and just look patiently. !

    Default Sorry

Hey dudes... i'm sorry about that first thread... I was REALLY tired and incredibly angry last night. I don't think i'm gonna hack those sights (unless I get angry again) it takes forever for me to hack a site (one site took up to a week... that was very stupid of me, REMEMBER, NEVER take more than a day or two to hack a site, I got a call from my ISP about abnormal use! ).

There is something I will do though... i'm gonna set up a rom search site, people that search there will get to bypass all that other crap and get to the real rom sites (like this wonderful site right here). I'll call it googleroms or something (that's probably copyright infringment though ). Although I don't know how safe those rom sight will be after being posted on the search engine, they maintane some of their anonyimity from being hard to find (FED's and copyright dudes can't find them as easy so that they can sue them).

And as for that guy that said it was easy for him to find good rom sights... dude... you're yankin' our chains, it's really easy to find SNES sites... try finding GBA sites (that work, the one attached to emuparadise never works). What search engine do you use? What do you type in?

NO, Hippocolos doesn't yank people's chains. And please, if you start a rom search engine do me a favor, DON'T INCLUDE EP. I'd rather not have our site screwed over AGAIN. And what I want to know is this. If you have such a hard time finding romsites, then what the hell is creating your own search engine going to accomplish? I may not be too knowledgable on how these things work, but it seems to me like you'd still have a hard time finding roms, even with your own search engine....

    Default Calm down

Woah, dude... calm down, it was just an idea I had.

After researching it some more I figured that it would cost too much and be too time consuming, plus another reason why I didn't do it was exactly what you said in your post, I don't want to give nintendo or whom-ever easy access to rom sites. One of your guys's main defenses against copyrighters is your anonymity (there's that word again) and i'd rather not jeopordize that (you guys are an awesome site).

As for the not being able to find proper rom sites, i've got friends that are huge on that scene... the only reason that I didn't call them is because I didn't want to disturb them (who the hell cares if I can't find a good rom site). They make their own roms though.
One of them gave me a cd of 30 different N64 roms and 15 different GBA roms (which i'm willing to trade, I need golden sun or Advance wars).

    Default I AM A GENIUS!

No, i'm not really a genuis... i'm just so proud of myself. I went out and got a copy of Kazaa from downloads.com (a great site) and I found all the roms I was looking for within a matter of 30 seconds... where Kazaa has been all my life i'm not sure, but now that I have discovered it for myself, I see what everyone else is talking about. Now if the RIAA would just get off of Kazaa's ass, maybe I could start downloading songs too...

Well... we are having a pretty fierce electrical storm over here in AZ and the lights are flickering pretty badly, i'm gonna go play Camper Strike before the storm gets too bad and my computer goes KABOOM!

    Thanks, and see ya later!

Whoa dude, calm down? This coming from a jackass who went on a rant just because he can't find roms? And forgive me for perhaps being a little perplexed when you whined about not being able to find roms in one sentance and went on about how you where going to create some WONDER SEARCH ENGINE to find all the roms in the world the next. I'm still genuinly wondering how you planned to do that. Again, it seems to me that if you had the resources build this wonderful rom search engine, then you shouldn't have trouble finding romsites to begin with.....

Try using a p2p program like kazaa, emule, or edonkey. You'll may find more of what you want their than any rom site.
