Default clrmamepro insanely slow - and missing ROMs

    Hello gentlemen,

I am trying to get into MAME currently and I downloaded the 0.178 romset from pleasuredome and I am currently scanning it with clrmamepro. I read the DAT from mame.exe (0.178) and I am currently scanning the directory. The problem is that is is insanely slow. It is running now for about 2 days on an i7 with an SSD at it is at 66% only. This is how it looks currently:

I installed 7zip 9.28b since I had problems with the current 7zip making clrmamepro saying "Can't remove files". I read that 7zip has problems with torrent7zip and 9.28b was the last working version.

So is it normal that it is THAT slow? What could be the problem?

Also as you can see in the screenshots there are dozens of missing sets already. Shouldn't the complete 0.178 romset from pleasuredome perfectly match with the MAME 0.178 gamelist?

    Thanks for your help guys!

There's no need to run CMP over the roms. The way they come from pleasuredome is already correct, just stick them in your roms folder and you're good to go.

It's not that clrmamepro is slow but renaming and sorting roms inside zip files is always slow, so it's the extraction and compression operations that are slowing the process down

If the set you got is for an exact version of MAME and you are using that exact version then it should not need fixing at all as above

Did you try MAME with then first before setting up a scan with fix options enabled, it would of been worth scanning with no fixes enabled first

Also most gui versions of MAME will tell you if you have games missing or if you run an audit, it will tell you if roms are missing and if you have any incorrect dumps

P.S. MAME does not just consist of roms but also includes CHD's
