666mb of ram. D Actually, no its 640
    Nvidea Geforce 440mx
    Yamaha Ds-Xg soundcard
    3X Maxtor 10gig drives
1X (some old crappy brand) Dvd drive that doesnt play 90% of my dvds.

dont feel bad we all have a really crappy pc some time in our life
but yours isn't past it, check my laptop specs a bit further back. it wont play many games cause of the integrated graphics(thank you smartass intel) but can do pretty much everything else reasonably
did i mention my last graphics card was a mx440. it oc-ed pretty well... for a while but then the fan went weird
weird as in no more proper cooling

P3 based PCs can actually make pretty decent machines, as long as they have 512MB of RAM or more, and a decent video card, they can run XP, and a fair amount of *recent* games quite well.

PC1: in Silver Cheiftec Server Case w/ 600w Ultra PSU
    Asus A7N8X Socket A Mobo
AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Barton (333 FSB) w/ TTK Volcano 12 Cooler
    PNY Geforce 5200 128MB (bleh)
    2x512 Corsair XMS PC3200 (2-3-3-6)
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz Sound Card
    1.3 TB Storage from 6 WD 7200 HDD's (various sizes, most 250's)
    Pioneer A05 and Pioneer A08 DVD+-RW

    PC2: in Aspire X-Navigator w/ 500w Aspire PSU
    Asus A8V Socket 939 Mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Newcastle w/ TTK Venus 12 Cooler
    MSI Geforce 6600GT 128MB
    2x512 Muskin L2 Hi-perf PC3200 (2-2-2-6 w/ sammy TCCDs )
    1.2 TB Storage from 5 WD 7200 HDD's (3 SATA, 2 PATA)
    Lite-On 1673S DVD+-RW

I'm a bit of a storage junkie and I never trust stock heatsinks (though AMD's new boxed coolers with the X2 and FX lines are pretty sweet). I can't wait to build another computer just so I can put a TTK Big Typhoon in - they are sexy as hell (yes, I am a sick man).

I had tons of fun building both of them. Shoot me a PM if you wanna talk computers or need any advice on builds. I do custom builds on request as a side business but I'd like to make it more of a main business. As such I got annoyed that all the new builds I was doing were so much faster than mine (hence the 2nd pc).

Well, I tried to make a decent gaming computer for 700 or so dollars, and this is what I came up with.

Athlon 64 3500+ Venice (/w stock heatsink, OCed to 2550)
1 GB Corsair Value Series PC3200 Ram
    200GB Maxtor DiamondMax HD
    Sapphire X800GTO2 256MB PCIEx16 GPU
    NEC 16x 3550A DVD-Burner
    Asrock DualSata2 mobo
    FSP Group 450W PSU

All this came out to a little under $700, but I probably could have saved more money by getting an Opteron 144 instead of the 3500 Venice, but I'm pretty satisfied with that I have.

    Pentium D 820 @ 2.8 GHz
    1 GB PC4300 DDR2 RAM
    MSI Radeon X800 PRO
    Antec SLK3700 case
    16X NEC DVD +/-RW
    16X DVD-ROM

Planning on replacing the graphics card with a lesser card as that is not a gaming machine.
