Soooo....Anyone know anything about fixing a PS1? Brought it to my girlfriends tonight and tried to play it, everything works fine. Disc spins, but it seems like it doesn't read it. Might be the laser. Any tips? It's the SCPH-101 Model.
Also known as the "slim" model.

Solution: buy another PS1 for $5
Well, fuck.
Guess I'll have to do that. Or if I get lucky, get a PS2. I can't complain too hard though...This PS1 came with some great games. All for $20. Just wish it worked. Also wish she wouldn't have lied to me when I asked if it worked.
Maybe it does still work Have you tried "tilting" the console?
It's an old trick used way back...sometimes you can get the laser to read by propping the unit up on its side, or even try using it upside down.
My Japanese console worked for about 12-18 months like that before the laser quit completely.
Spoiler warning:
