Super Smash Bros cheats not working?

Hello i am new to this website , i installed on NineTeen64 0.9.9 super Smash Bros, i finished the game very quickly i wanted to put cheats so here starts the problem, when i enable a cheat and then press on the "OK" button, the cheats doesn't enable then i go back to the cheats menu but they are not enabled, they disable themselves any help?
