Default Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes Re-Coloring Project 2016

Hey guys, this is a project I've been wanting to do for a long time as I'm a big fan of the VS. series.
The goal is to give the game a fresh look so current and new players alike can enjoy MVC1 once more.

As the title suggests, I will only be doing re-coloring work to preserve compatibility (Fightcade, Kaillera).

Here is a wip preview, more results will be posted soon.

[Update] Some screenshots to get the idea:

Below is a concept of interface re-coloring. The final result will be much different.

    For the fans!

Some progress have been made. It's halfway done and all that's left is the hidden characters and some more UI coloring, which I'll show soon.

    New character colors:

looking at the cps2 link seems interesting.
if the game in question is a standard os/engine type on the cps2 board, perhaps a colour palette edit tool for same engine games could be put together and made available to the public?
so they could possibly experiment/contribute to any given project.
    ...
    just a thought.
passing cps2 link around, i avoid modern stuffs, and don't know anybody into the present generation.
    watching closely...

    crap keyboard.

If there's someone out there who is willing to write a tool to re-color the game, I'm down for that. Until then, I'll just have to stick with hex'ing. :p

    See you on FightCade perhaps!

    fair enough.
that's pretty difficult in it's own right, last time i messed with payloads/hex edits, a computer got whizzed out of a window.
    ...
as for being there, my apologies, i only throw my one time username (would be amiga1200 but epf servers took a shit and a lot of accounts got killed by accident) at places that cater generally, as opposed to any given specific platform/ideal.
if i see infos, just pass it around, sorta like stewie griffin at the breakfast table.
while the family is distracted, he dumps a script on the table, nobody sees him do it, and they just start reading the script not caring who placed it there to be seen.
    ...
i also don't involve myself in any kind of social networking, i have my privacy to consider. (and my door to bolster.)
    so again, sorry about that.
in any event, all the best with the project, it's sure to go down a treat.

Sounds like you had one hell of an outburst there. :p

Please do help spread the word about this project, as it will make plenty of people happy to finally see a decades old game getting a revamp, but for fighting gamers only though! Not sure what kind of trouble I might get, but if Capcom don't update their games, then we'll do just that.

Your privacy is yours and yours only, no worries about that.

The final coming of the project is almost nigh.

just trying to be honest, show my cards upfront, as it were.
yeah, forgot about capCAN'T still in the game as they are known to like their cash.
    ...
take basic precautions, break the chain of command at a vital point.
    ie:
this subject and the links are one side, as there's nothing up for grabs yet.
but when it comes to supplying the patch (rom acquisition is user responsibility) do it in a way that the news article and the data download are NOT connected.
    different username/accounts to back that.
even capcaSh will have a hard time zeroing in on that.
the world is massive, ideas are seldom unique to one person, but a few in the entire world.
it's enough, so it can be sheer coincidence that the patch dl was created by a totally different person, and they can't just go fingering any random suspect, or we all be in concentration camps.
    ..
    you're safe.

Got ya. I guess Capcom won't be able to do much, anyway, as they have no ties with Marvel anymore (yet). Them 16-bit games ought to be left to us people so we can continue to preserve.

Thanks for spreading the word! I am anxious to see further development.

Are you interested in some beta testing?

sound great, appreciate it, no rush.
as the subject is getting looked at @ xtras, it's possible you could get requests?
    but i can't guarantee that.
    ...
i do have three platforms i could try the patched cps2 rom on (please supply updated instructions on rom patch. and good call about the crc fail check after patch. could catch some old farts out not keeping up with the obvious.)
    ...
xbox, ps3 and hp (xp os) hardwares at my disposal.
haven'y bothered with 360 homebrew, it's a fuckin brainshag setting it up.
    ..
so, please, in you own time, and i'll post back results on the tests as they occur.

Excellent. Let me get back to you to via PM for the details.

Thought I'd mention the crc check fail, most emulators will always check for the known rom hash and when things have been altered, it doesn't always mean it's rendered useless
If there are no requests, it's still okay. Everything works out so far, further development, of course, might make things easier. That should already be more than enough.
