Problems configuring my gamepad (epsxe 1.6.0 on Linux)

I have an Interact Hammerhead FX gamepad that I know works (I was just playing ZSNES with it an hour ago), but I can't configure it with epsxe.

If I go to conig > Ext. Game Pad, it shows "ammoQ Joydevice Pad Driver 0.7". Clicking the "Test" button says "Plugin working correctly". Clicking the "Configure" button brings up a dialogue with a whole bunch of button that I can click, and they respond to my gamepad buttons. So that all works alright.

But, the problem is, if I go to Config > Game Pad > Pad 1, that dialogue doesn't respond to my gamepad at all, just to keyboard keys. I have "Digital Only" selected from the drop down list (in fact, that's the ONLY option in the drop down list). Does anyone know how to solve this?

I would just try to uninstall and reinstall ePSXe.

Try a diffrent plugin.. for input?

ePSXe uses a builtin input system. I am pretty sure that it doesn't take input plugins.

yep your right, must have been thinking of some other emulator...
or mabey an old release of ePSXe?

Well, I just uninstalled epsxe 1.6.0 and installed 1.5.2. Still the same problem, though...

Well I don't know Linux at all but for the Windows one if you are having problems with pads it recomends to remove previous reg entries and trying again while also making sure you have the latest Direct X.

Dunno why it wouldn't have options for analog though, thats very odd as it should have that option in the drop down even if you don't have a Pad.

hmm have a look in Help then Contents then Trouble shooting then Input, not the Config Guide.
Thats if the Linux version has help :/

I would have also said try a Pad to Keys type tool but I don't know of one for Linux but that does not say there isn't one.

Pad to Keys? I'm talking about a prog that reads your pad and uses keys presses in replace of the pad presses e.g. A on your Pad might press X on your keyboard without actully touching your keyboard sorta thing.

Anyway I hope that is atleast a point in the right direction, sorry I just know Linux and therefore I don't know ePSXe for Linux either.

Funny you mentioned pad to keys, I was just downloading and installing one called qjoypad. It works :D

So I guess there is one for linux then LOL
